Our Team

Mark Smiley, P.E., Principal
msmiley@smiley-associates.com

Mark is the leader of the Smiley & Associates team. He oversees the projects from the beginning to end. In addition, he conveys the intent and needs of the client to the other team members so each project has multiple people working on it to ensure all aspects of the job are considered. He created the company with the goal to treat each client so they feel they are the only client.

Mark is a talented engineer with a Civil Engineering Bachelor of Science Degree from the University of Florida. Many years of experience have sharpened his gift to seize the big picture without losing sight of the details. His personable approach is especially useful when it comes to project permitting. His style allows the needs of those involved to be met while enhancing project success.

Mark believes in hard work and hard play. Boating, wake boarding and snow boarding make up most of the hard play. But his allegiance to the Gator Nation as a Gator sports fan is one of his greatest passions. If you have any questions or comments feel free to call or email him.

Randall Greer, E.I., Engineer
rgreer@smiley-associates.com

Randall is responsible for all aspects of the project from preliminary engineering and due diligence research to the design and permitting of plans. He approaches each project as if it were his own personal endeavor. And he takes pride in all that he does so you can rest assured your project will be give his full attention. One of his many talents is to listen well and ask the right questions.

Randall attended Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University on an academic and baseball scholarship where he learned excellent engineering skills and how to be a great team player. In addition to his Bachelor Degree, he holds his Engineer Intern Certification proving his excellent concept of engineering design.

He loves Florida living, but he is a native Texas cowboy whose family puts him to work herding the cattle while home on “vacation”. He enjoys relaxing with good friends and playing sports. Randall is the type of person who gives answers or knows where to go to get the answers. If you have any questions or comments feel free to call or email him.

After successfully obtaining his Associates Degree in Drafting & Design from New England Institute of Technology in December 2006 he will continue his formal education towards a Bachelors Degree.

In his spare time Ryan enjoys golf, baseball, hockey and Classic Rock. As an artist he is mainly focused on Surrealism and Portraits and considers his biggest influence to be The Beatles. Also, he’s quite the movie buff with a knowledge and appreciation that rivals even Siskel and Ebert.

Elizabeth Smiley, Manager

Elizabeth is the Accounting, Human Resource, Marketing, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable and Information Technology Manager at Smiley & Associates. Thanks to a very efficient production team who focuses on the front end of the projects, she can concentrate on the other aspects of the company. A Bachelors Degree in Business Administration from the University of Florida taught her the necessities for running a business. Even though she bleeds orange and blue, she is also proud to have received her Masters in Business Administration from Palm Beach Atlantic University.

Elizabeth’s hobbies change with the seasons…football tailgating, Christmas crafting and Peanut Island boating.

Patricia Akin, Administrative Assistant

A more suitable title for Pat might be Chief Organizer. Pat ensures all of the project’s documents are properly accounted. She dots the I’s and crosses the T’s to make certain the office flows smoothly. Pat came out of early retirement to join the Smiley & Associates team in 2005. Her past experiences in medical and dental offices prepared her for the challenges of this industry.

Pat’s interests beyond work include faith, family, reading, sewing, movies and traveling. And thanks to modern technology, in the evenings she enjoys watching previously recorded episodes of General Hospital!
